Julie Dzerowicz is the first female Member of Parliament for Davenport. Elected in 2015, and re-elected in 2019, Julie proudly represents her riding in Parliament, including as a member of the Finance Committee.
Born in downtown Toronto to immigrant parents from Ukraine and Mexico, Julie knows the value of hard work and education.
A resident of Davenport for 20 years, Julie is passionate about advocating for the issues that matter to our community.
Throughout the pandemic, Julie and her office have worked tirelessly to support, inform, and be available for the people of Davenport. She continues to fight for middle class families and our most vulnerable residents, particularly the rising cost-of-living, and investing more in safe and affordable housing.
Her experience working with families in Davenport inspired Julie to introduce Bill C-273, the first ever bill on a national guaranteed basic income. Julie believes a well-designed basic income program would alleviate poverty and inequality, such as residents in the precarious job market or in transition.
Julie also champions the incredible array of writers, performers, musicians, and artists in the Davenport community. She has listened to artists and the community’s concerns and has pushed for higher taxes on big tech companies and more investment in Canadian content. She also continues to advocate for smart labour and immigration policies to develop a legitimate pathway to citizenship for the many non-status workers in Davenport.
Before becoming an MP, Julie completed her MBA at the University of British Columbia and spent more than 20 years in senior management positions in banking and biotechnology. She co-founded Project Neutral, an environmental organization dedicated to helping communities reduce their carbon emissions.
As our Liberal candidate, Julie will continue to advocate for middle class families, affordable housing, sustainable economic policies, and a green economy -- and it is the greatest honour of her life to continue to serve the people of Davenport.
